At Howard Lewis & Petersen PC, we represent those who have been injured in car accidents. It is our goal to help you recover as fast as possible in order to get back to life as normal. While our goal is to help those who have suffered from car accidents, no one should have to deal with the stress and trauma of an accident. On the roadways, especially during the winter, there are many hazards but there are different precautions that each of us can take to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash.

  1. Avoid Distractions. The most common distraction comes in the form of a cell phone. Most of us have a cell phone with us each day. Texting while driving is dangerous as it take your eyes off of the road. There is never a reason to check a text while driving. Talking the phone while driving is just as dangerous as texting while driving. If you need to make a phone call or send a text, pull over.
  2. Do not speed. The posted speed limits is there to keep you and the others around you safe. Remember that the posted speed limits are meant for ideal conditions. If it is dark, snowing, raining, or during a high traffic period you should drive below the posted speed limit to stay safe.
  3. Perform regular car maintenance. Over time, a car will have different problems that arise. It is important to always have your breaks, tires, engine, and other systems checked regularly. This will make it less likely to have a problem while driving, therefore reducing the risk of being involved in an accident
