Don R. Petersen has practiced law for over 40 years and is an experienced Provo attorney. He graduated from Utah State University in 1961 and obtained a J.D. degree from the University of Utah in 1964.
A seasoned attorney, Don has concentrated his practice in areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and domestic and family law, having handled hundreds of domestic cases as well as jury trials involving medical malpractice and personal injury matters. He is considered to be among the best domestic law attorneys in the State of Utah. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a Diplomat in the American College of Family Lawyers, a Master of the Bench in American Inns of Court, included in Utah Magazine as Legal Elite Family Law. He is President of Howard, Lewis & Petersen, P.C., Attorneys at Law in Provo, Utah, has an “av” rating in Martindale-Hubbell, Inc., past President of Utah Trial Lawyers Association, past President of the Central Utah Bar Association, past President of American Inns of Court I.
Among his various awards, Don was voted Number One Divorce Attorney according to the Reader’s Choice Awards in 2007. In 2009 J. Reuben Clark College of Law honored Don with a Lifetime Achievement Award for 40 years of legal service to the community. He is listed in Super Lawyers Magazine which is based upon peer nomination and independent research. He served as a visiting professor at Palacky University in the Czech Republic. He is past President of the Provo Timpanogos Kiwanas Club. He and his wife, Carolyn, served as Country Directors of Welfare Services for the Country of Russia for the LDS Church traveling throughout the country of Russia working with humanitarian missionaries and providing aid to orphanages, hospitals, care centers and schools. He has served in various ecclesiastical positions for his church, including Bishop.
Don and his wife have six children.
