Seasons are Changing, 7 Ways on How to Stay Safe on Wet Roads

Howard Lewis & Petersen PC in Provo, Utah wants you to drive safely on wet roads by using these essential safety tips.
1: Keep Your Vehicle’s Tires Inflated Correctly
One of the best ways to prevent sliding on a wet street is by keeping your vehicle’s tires inflated correctly. Check your vehicle’s manual, or look at a sticker on the front door of a vehicle to know how much air to add to each tire.
2: Reduce Your Driving Speed
To avoid an accident while driving on a wet road, make sure to reduce your vehicle’s driving speed. In addition, do not begin to drive faster just because another driver is honking at you to increase your vehicle’s speed.
3: Replace Your Windshield Wiper Blades
The rubber blades on windshield wipers wear down quickly, and if you have old ones on your vehicle, then replace the items immediately. When the metal portion of the blades is bent or degraded, you can replace the entire device.
4: Leave for Your Destination Earlier
It is never safe to drive fast on a wet road, so make sure to leave your home earlier in order to have more travel time. It is better to arrive late at work or school when it is raining than to have an accident.
5: Adjust or Replace Your Vehicle’s Headlights
If the headlights on your vehicle are not working optimally, then you need to replace or adjust the items. Angling your vehicle’s headlights in a certain way can make it easier to see in the rain.
6: Avoid Tailgating Other Vehicles
You should always maintain a lot of distance from other vehicles while on the road. However, when the roads are wet, it is important to increase this distance to prevent vehicular collisions.
7: Stay Away from Flooding Roads
Never drive on a flooding road, because only a few inches of water are dangerous. Your vehicle may begin to float when a street has standing water, leading to a dangerous situation.
